Kia Morning (Picanto) Price in Ghana: Buyer's Guide

5 min read. Last reviewed 20 September 2026.

If you are shopping for a small, cheap-to-run car in Ghana, the Kia Morning is probably already on your list. In Korea it is sold as the Morning. In most other markets, including Ghana, the same car is badged the Kia Picanto. It is one of the most popular budget and ride-hailing cars on the road here: low fuel use, cheap parts, and easy resale.

This guide gives realistic price ranges, explains what moves the number, and shows how to get a firm, up-to-date quote landed at Tema.

Kia Morning vs Picanto: same car, two names

There is no difference in the vehicle. "Kia Morning" and "Kia Picanto" are the same model, and you will see both names in Ghanaian listings, so search for both. You may also see the "Kia Morning Van," a two-seat cargo version with the same body and running costs but no rear seats, which suits small businesses moving light goods around the city.

What a Kia Morning costs in Ghana (general ranges)

Prices move constantly with the exchange rate, the year, and condition, so treat these as guide ranges only.

  • Older models (roughly 2011 to 2014): the entry point. Higher mileage and simpler trims, so the cheapest cars sit here.
  • Mid-range models (roughly 2015 to 2017): the sweet spot for most buyers and Uber or Bolt drivers. A clean 2016 Morning is a very common ask.
  • Newer models (2018 and up): the current shape, more features, lower mileage, and the highest prices in the range.

Because listings vary widely for the same year, compare the actual condition, mileage, and trim behind each price, not just the headline number.

What affects the price

  • Model year. Newer years cost more.
  • Mileage. A low-kilometre car commands a premium.
  • Trim and features. Automatic gearbox, alloys, camera, and better climate or sound all add cost. Automatics generally sell for more than manuals.
  • Condition and history. Accident-free bodywork and clean servicing raise value.
  • Duty (ICUMS value). Ghana customs charges duty on an assessed value in ICUMS, not simply on what you paid. Older cars can attract higher penalty rates, so the year affects your duty bill as well as the sticker.
  • Shipping and port costs. Freight from Korea plus terminal and clearing charges at Tema feed into the landed price.

A low advertised price sometimes hides an unpaid duty bill or a rough mechanical state, so always ask whether a quote is duty-inclusive and delivered, or just the car.

Why the Morning is a top budget and Uber pick

Its small engine sips fuel, which matters when you drive all day for a ride-hailing app. Spare parts are widely available and affordable, and most mechanics know the car well, so servicing is cheap and quick. It is easy to park in Accra traffic and holds resale value because demand stays high.
